I haven't blogged about books too much but here are a couple I am looking forward to reading.
The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stievfater
This is the second in the Raven Boys series. Maggie has a distinct voice that I've come to love. Her book, "Scorpio Races" is one of my favorites. Sept. 17th.
This is already out and my daughter took it to read so I wouldn't be tempted to start reading instead of working. Quintana is the conclusion of the Lumatere Chronicles I raved about in an older post. It is the carrot at the end of the stick after I finish the children's book finals.
A lot of buzz about this one by Rick Yancey. It's going with me on the airplane to Kansas City next weekend. (More on that later).
A Facebook friend recommended this trilogy to me. It begins with the Prince of Thorns. I almost stopped reading but was rewarded at the end. Excellent writing. Unpredictable. A complex character I'm still not sure about but definitely invested in. Aug. 8th
I've clamored on and on about Mr. Yancey's Monstrumology series. This isn't for everyone but I'm so glad I gave it a chance. This concludes the story of dear, Will Henry and I fear for him. Sept. 10th.
There are many movies I'm looking forward to but Ender's Game is at the top of the list. If they botch it, I will throw a tizzy fit. November 1st. Get ready Jake. You know where you and Grams are going to be on your birthday.

I can vouch for "Ender's Game" for a great read. Believe it or not, it was on the Marine Corps Commandant's Reading List at one point.
I have a few too many books that I'm anticipating to post them all, but The Dream Thieves is one of them (I LOVED Scorpio Races and can't wait to see the movie -- the visuals should be AWESOME, the story was that inspiring IMO); the Raven Boys was a good read. As dark as The Prince of Thorns was, I agree that the main character and his world was unique; the 2nd book while confusing at first (the timeline narrative was all over the place), was a worthy sequel. The Lumatere Chronicles was a miss for me -- just couldn't care about any of the characters for some reason so I abandoned the trilogy after reading the first book. I haven't read the other two books you mentioned, so I'll be checking those out. 3 other books on my 2013 book anticipation shortlist include the latest in the Chronicles of Elantra series by Michelle Sagara, Unseen by Karin Slaughter (Grant County mystery series), and Light, the last book in the Gone series by Michael Grant. Events wise, I'll be attending our regional SCBWI event next month, and possibly Lone Star Con 3 in San Antonio at summer's end. My various projects are ongoing....
Brian, that doesn't surprise me. I actually prefer the parallel novel, Ender's Shadow. The movie is supposed to be taken from both books. Thanks for stopping by.
Thank you Tanja. I have written your recommends down. I just finished Gone and picked up the second, Hunger at the library. I do agree with you about the dark aspect of the Thorn series as well as the time zone switcheroo. A bit confusing. Maybe it's the slim chance of Jorg's redemption that keeps me reading. Sorry you couldn't get into Manchetta's fantasy. I did like the first but absolutely loved the second. Good luck with your ongoing projects and conventions. Thanks so much for your input.
