Antiphon Continued

Here is the painting with all the highlights lifted out of the gouache.
Looks kinda wacky but there's something liberating about this. You simply ignore the lines.

Next, you lay down oil glazes, contrasting warm and cool colors.

Lift the oil out. This goes much faster than the gouache phase.
Now on to the opaque part. Finger's crossed.

Beautiful! Nice to see the light appear. Who needs lines anyway? :)

This is such a fascinating technique... it develops such depth and quality of light, its looking wonderful! How are you lifting the oil, is it by rubbing back with turpentine to uncover some of the painting underneath?? And how about the gouache, is that lifted with water? I am intrigued by the transformation in each phase from your original post, its great...

Well Kim, this is beautiful. I don't understand the combination of oil media and water media, but it certainly is looking like good results here. Your draftsmanship is gorgeous.
Congratulations, by the way, on having your IMC piece chosen to be printed in the magazine (I forget its name). They chose well.

Thanks Rebecca. I usually very line-oriented so this is a challenge. Must alter my usual way of thinking.

Do you really need to go on to an 'opaque part'?? I really like it at this stage.
