Hungry Birds and little 'e'

One of my daughters had her first baby a year ago. She loves birds and has decorated little E's room with them. She has asked if I would paint a picture for her birthday. Instead of "Angry" birds, I changed them to "Hungry" ones.  Scanned in the sketch and the fabric scraps from her quilt and played around with some ideas. This is digital paint just to see how things might look. Don't know if I should go with a more flat pattern or more realistic. I also don't know if I should crop it down to just little 'e' and the one hungry birdie? Opinions??

I love them both but I really like the 2nd one because the little girl is so cute or maybe if the little girl was a tad bigger in the 1st one id like it more. they're both very cute though.

It's hard to say because they are both so good. As a young child I would probably like the first because I would enjoy looking at all the different birds and imagining their personalities.

I love 'e' with one bird, also and maybe more so i love 'e' with all the birds, quite charming.

Happy Birthday E!

I really appreciate you taking time to express your opinions. I'm still unsure but will go forward with the larger one. I can always crop it, I guess. Thanks again.

Cute idea! And I love the little hungry bird next to "e". :) I agree with kristacole that it might be helpful to increase the scale of the little girl or maybe decrease the size of the larger birds...thinking that otherwise it might get too busy. But, your choice of colors might solve that in any case.

I agree with Sarah, I would have loved the same thing as a kid. :) Love your imagination at work Kim, you amaze me.

I like the focus on E with smaller birds. I love the whimsy of this piece!

Aw hah! I should have known to check your blog for the top secret project! I absolutely love my little E's face! I know I'm going to love whatever you do, so I don't need to comment on that. So excited to receive this to adorn her bird room! Thanks maja!
