Rapunzel Color

Started the color process on this. Probably going to keep this fairly high key. Added some extra hair and changed the cloak on the witch, bars on tower too. Put down a sort of Klimt-influenced teardrop texture, in the background (in the Grimm story, Rapunzel restores the prince's eyes with her tears). Felt it was too flat if left smooth. I get a "color buzz" looking at the picture of the yellow door and decided to use it to guide my color choices. NOTE: If Rapunzel is starting to look like Starbuck from Battlestar Galactica, it's because I've been staying up late watching the entire series while drawing.

Starbuck? Maybe a little. But I like the expression you've given your Rapunzel -- she could be thinking, "Rescue me? I dare you." :)

BTW, I'd recommend you label your images with your mark, copyright or website address so that if anything gets around (like your Kvothe did), people would know that you were the artist of it from the start and how to contact you.

Thank you Tanja. Good suggestion about the copyright. I usually give people the benefit of the doubt about using one of my images. Most have been kind to ask but as you mentioned, Kvothe is an exception.

** I was sort of kidding about the Starbuck thing. I confess, I'm hooked on the show. Getting down to the final season... hope it ends strong.

I love the previous blogger's comment, "Rescue me? I dare you." That captures her expression perfectly! That should definitely be the title for the piece. I LOVE this one, Kim! Keep the fairy tales coming. :)

This illustration project is turning out quite excellent! I'm learning much by following your progress. Thanks for sharing your work-in-progress.

Thank you Sophie. I tried to give her a little "attitude" in her expression.
Thank you Brian.
