Eowyn, Shield Maiden

It's back to the drawing board for my painting of Arwen. Lost the transparency that I was trying for with the paint. IN the meantime, worked up this portrait of Eowyn. Digital color on Graphite Sketch. Still have so tweaks to make on it.  SmART School will be ending this month and I will miss it terribly...the instruction, fellow students, and motivation.

I just don't get it ... how people can draw. Especially draw a character and make them so real that you think this person probably did live. It's amazing what an effect a touch of light or simple shading can make to humanize a drawing. I love her expression - she seems strong, resolute but also sad. I can't pretend that I know much of Eowyn/LOTR, but I do love this piece; there's a story just in her expression. Good just mom.

Stunning. Just stunning. Such a wonderful mood that you always create. Thanks for the advice you gave me the other day. It all feels so daunting!

Hi,
It's an old post, but I really think that's the most beautiful portrait of Eowyn I've ever seen!
