Oh my gosh, those are truly inspirational! He chooses small dramatic elements of the story, hints at the other parts mysteriously, limits color and detail so as to increase the drama, and generally gives his pictures a mystical feel. I looked at his website, and the one that stands out most to me is of a mother and child curled up in a box (a coffin?), with almost unseen bare feet standing about them.
I didn't see the feet! I love that one as well. I love the way the line is lost between the mother's arm and the child's back.. So wish I could find his books here.
