Irene Gallo is Tor's Art Director. She's been at IMC every year and gives a rip-roarin' lecture on the business of art. Not being an artist per se, she often has a fresh perspective of the appreciative audience and sees something in a painting that a viewer will notice in the overall impression that sometimes artists miss. Her contributions to the critiques at IMC are invaluable for that very reason.

This photo of her dog was posted in January and I was so taken with the beauty of his head shape and the intelligent nobility of his gaze that I knew I had to draw him. He's a Scottish deer hound but Irene describes him as "A greyhound in a Wookie suit."

Gosh! What a beautiful sketch! I could almost get tangled up within that fur!
He's awesome!! I thought he was a Saluki at first. Just terrific!!!!!
Thank you to each of you for your comments.
He's lovely, I can't help picturing deer hounds beside a medieval hearth in a great hall with mead and wild boar and flickering torchlight...
Great drawing...
