Here is a new personal piece I've started. I'm excited to experiment with some lost and found edges on this one as well as formed and flat surfaces.
And here is a delightful "personal piece" my son and daughter-in-law created. She arrived last Monday. Mommy and baby are home and doing well.
Welcome to the world little Nora.

a new precious gift to your family, such a dear little being.
your drawing is so alive and lovely!
Congratulations to your family. What a beautiful baby. And I love your drawing very much.
Beautiful Times Two! Congratulations, and please provide updates and progress shots of both of these lovelies.
Congratulations!
I also have a question. Do you work from reference photos or imagination or life or a combination? I love drawing people but need something to go by - especially for hands!
Thanks,
Lori
Holy Phuckin' Shit, Kim! Ain't any artwork of a babe hit me that hard since I last viewed, @ The Carnegie, a Renoir.
Yeah, I know what I'm sayin'.
Thank you Suzy. I will try to keep updating. Progress is slow though with other obligations.
*Lori (scribble)- I begin with a photo of a face that 'speaks' to me. I usually put down the placement of the features and then the reference gets put away. That's when imagination takes over. I will bring the ref. out to establish the lighting or if I'm struggling with something which is usually the mouth. Sometimes, I "frankenstein" a face, meaning I use eyes from one photo, hair from another and so forth. Now, hands! They are my nemesis. I have to work and work at them. I have a file of artists who draw beautiful hands for inspiration. Hope this helps. Thank you for stopping by.
** Well, thank you Tor for that resounding compliment.
Tammie Lee, Sarah, and Suzy: Thank you very much for stopping by and for commenting.
Kim,
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question.
I think your paintings are some of the most intriguing and beautiful ones I've ever seen. They have that ephemeral haunting quality that always "grabs" me.
After teaching for 35 years I feel the urgency to learn, learn, learn so am saving $$ to take classes or even (gulp) try SmART School.
Thank you for your inspiration!
((Sigh)) Both are beautiful but the bottom one is pure joy <3
