During those years I was in the thick of mothering, I found I simply couldn't paint. It required a particular type of energy and focus I simply could not find. Sewing was a different story. For some reason, I had all sorts of creative energy for designing and sewing dolls and bears and other critters. I've been going through many boxes of old stuff and came across these photographs of some of my wares from those years BEFORE digital cameras and internet and the like.

This is a tiny jointed bear made from mohair, an absolutely wonderful natural fabric.
Believe it or not, the tinier the bear, the harder to sew and joint.
For a couple years, I was included in a bear catalog called "Bear in Mind", located in Massachusetts. One year, I did a limited series of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
This is Papa Bear. My favorite part of this husky guy was his sturdy pair of hiking boots.
Everything else was made by hand.

I wish I had a better picture of Goldilocks, but here are two photos that sort of show her. Her hair was a wig but everything else was sewn by me.
