Colorized Edward -Dazed and Confused

I did this sketch of my version of Edward Cullen, before all the Rob Pattinson-movie craze. Finally colored him for a personal project I'm currently working on. Sort of Twilighted out with the whole movie obsession. I liked it better when Twilight was just about the books. Oh well. It will be interesting to see how this new director treats New Moon. I have one daughter who is in the Jacob camp and can't wait to see less of Edward. As fun as it is to see your favorite books visually realized (LOTR!), as far as Twlight is concerned, I have preferred the images conjured in my head while reading the books to the actors they've selected for the movie.

The title of this piece is Dazed and Confused and it's when Edward realizes for the first time that he can't read Bella's mind.

I completely agree. When it comes to all this Twilight movie business... Well, the movie itself was quite a disappointment. It was actually painful to watch, but I went to support Stephenie. I absolutely love the four books. As much as I love reading, I have never had as much FUN reading as I have with Twilight.

Your artwork is fantastic, and I am so glad that you've dabbled with some Twilight-inspired pieces using your own vision. Thank you for sharing them here... I know you mentioned that you ran into some trouble with people taking credit for your work.

I was wondering if you have read the draft of Midnight Sun that Stephenie posted on her website? For the longest time I vowed not to read it because of what happened, but a recent family incident made me decide not to wait, in case it is never published. I have to say, I enjoyed it more than Bella's version. I was wondering, if you have read it, if it has changed your perception of Edward at all? Even with this piece, would you have made any changes?

Keep up the amazing work and again, thank you for sharing.

Hi Reina,
I hope you come back here to read this since I couldn't figure out how to leave a comment on your LJ. I really appreciate your thoughts and kind comments. I started reading Midnight Sun and though I haven't finished it, I thoroughly enjoyed it and I agree, it was more captivating than Bella's but I think it's because he is male and a vampire. (I just finished Hunger Games and throughout the story I wanted to get into Peeta's head and know what he was thinking).

It's true, I was having problems with my images posted on Ramblings and Thoughts being stolen. I was amazed that there were some people claiming that it was their own work, especially on the Deviant website. I don't have any problems with people using them with my permission and preferably with a credit link. Most were very respectful. i doubt if anyone would be interested in fan art portraying them from imagination. From what I've seen, most want more Rob!!

I can't wait to see what Stephenie comes up with next. Have you heard any rumors? I heard she was considering a story of a mermaid.

Again, I hope you catch this. Thanks again for visiting and commenting.

I'm glad I caught your comment!

I'll have to add Hunger Games to my reading list, I remember you posting a recommendation for it a while ago.

I'm so surprised that people would claim your work as their own. It's so easy to "borrow" these days, very scary. As for most people preferring Rob, it's a shame, because so many people posted wonderful renderings of Edward pre-movie. It was fun to see all the different interpretations. Yours was by far the closest thing I came across (comparing to my own version, anyway). You really seem to pay attention to all the minor details that authors write about. How do you go about starting a piece like that? Do you see it in your head and then try to put that image on paper?

I really hope Stephenie finishes and publishes Midnight Sun. It adds so much more depth to Twilight. I was having doubts about Edward just suddenly falling in love with such a 'normal' girl, but Midnight Sun made it so believable. As for what's next, I also heard something about a mermaid story, but I seem to remember her saying that the mermaids would be different from their usual portrayal (much like her vampires). Sounds very interesting. I also heard rumors about a ghost story, but that was almost a year ago.

Have you read The Host? What did you think of it?

Congratulations!

I'm by your side about the Twilighted thing. I guess I wouldn't even pass by the book if I haven't read it before all this fever.

Your draw it's perfect. That is how I imagined Edward. Robert is just to...rough...
