Seasons Update and 21-Day Cleanse

I'm trying desperately to finish this so I can take it to the Master Illustration Class when I leave this Saturday. Colors are really off in this shot. I always remember to take the picture when the sun is setting. I've learn alot about what NOT to do with oils while working on this painting. I'm fairly pleased with the flesh tones and the expression but I still have alot of refining left to do yet. 5 more days until I leave.....
ALSO: I am finishing up on Oprah's 21-day cleanse. I'm not a loyal O watcher, but I happened to turn on the tube when she had Kathy Freston on talking about eliminating all caffeine, alcohol, dairy, gluten, animal products and SUGAR!!!! for three weeks. There's alot more to it...alot of her philosophy really resonated with me but I'm not going to go into it here. Well, I decided to give it a try. I'm not a pop drinker and left alcohol behind long ago. I'm lactose intolerant so going without diary's no big deal. BUT BREAD! That's been more difficult than refined sugar. But I must tell you, I have stuck to it and I have dropped 10 pounds. I went down one pant size too. Now, you might ask what's left to eat. Well, there's all the fruits and vegetables you want, plus beans and other grains, avacados, and nuts. Believe me, you don't starve on this cleanse, but you do go through withdrawals, at least I did, over sugar. I can't believe how addicting it can be. But last night we had a family gathering for birthdays and I had the first bit of sugar in the form of cake and though it was tasty, it was so overly sweet, I couldn't have much. I'm going to try to keep this up as long as I feel good. I don't think it's necessarily healthy to lose 10 lbs. in three weeks and I will add whole grain bread back to the diet as well as fish, but I want to try to stay away from refined sugar. That's the plan, at least.

I am always so amazed with you. For some reason just about everything you do sounds fascinating to me. You are just an awesome person. Good for you to cleanse yourself but be wise in your decisions regarding your health. My dad always says your health should always be your number one priority. I am immensely proud of you for taking charge and bettering yourself. Not that you need any bettering from my perspective.

I like the painting. I can't really see the fleshy colors you are talking about but I bet it looks wonderful once I see it with my own eyes. Which may happen sooner than you think since I am trying to get Audrey take my wonderful sons photos and my preggo photos before the summer ends. You have a lovely family! Good work, Kim! Love you and good luck with the painting before Saturday and have a lovely trip!
