Though I prefer the look on your subject's face from the first version, with version two, I feel you captured a lot more in how she must be feeling. In the first version, she had a more proud look to her, a more stoic stare, as if she is saying to winter, "bring it on!". But in the second version, the way her eyes are bulging (I don't know if that is the word I'm looking for) expresses a conscious knowledge of her demise. She's sad about it. She's scared she is fading away.
